The Capital Area Humane Society Pet Visitation
program lets volunteers make a difference not only in the lives of
animals but also in the lives of people.
Our Pet Visitation program is putting smiles on the faces of both
humans and animals alike, as volunteers take shelter animals to area
nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and adult day care facilities.
This program brings joy and lifts spirits of all those involved. The
hosts benefit from the unconditional love and attention that the
furry critters provide and the animals benefit by getting out of
their cages and receiving extra socialization. Many of the people
visited have been forced to leave their pets behind in their former
homes, which is a very difficult situation for them. Having a furry
friend around really has the ability to brighten someone’s day. It
is an extremely rewarding experience for everyone involved.
