Capital
Canine Connection
WANTED - A
few good dogs (and their humans) for
therapeutic visitation
Does this apply to you?
- Do you or a friend own a reliable, stable
and friendly dog?
- Do people really seem to like the dog?
- Does the dog love everyone right back?
- Do you want to find a way to share the benefits
of the human/animal bond with others?
In an effort to provide more widely
accepted certification and thus more opportunities for therapy work
in Columbus, the Capital Area Humane Society will now be hosting
quarterly certifications through Therapy Dogs International. TDI is
a volunteer organization dedicated to regulating, testing and
registration of therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers for the
purpose of visiting nursing homes, hospitals, other institutions and
wherever else therapy dogs are needed.
The TDI certification test is a
natural extension of the AKC Canine Good Citizens Test. The Humane
Society will be hosting Ellie Clinesmith, TDI evaluator, quarterly
in our training hall to proctor these tests. Once a dog and handler
team is certified through Ellie, TDI has resources that will help
the team find opportunities for therapy dog work in central Ohio.
Because this process is more
comprehensive and offers broader opportunities than our current
certification program, we will be discontinuing the traditional
Capital Canine Connection evaluation process and exclusively
offering and promoting the TDI certification moving forward.

International and upcoming test dates please visit:
