Help the environment AND the Capital Area Humane Society by recycling the following items. We receive a portion of the recycling proceeds from each project.

Aluminum Cans

All cans should be contained and secured in plastic garbage or grocery bags and can be dropped off at the shelter any time. There is a wooden collection bin in the back of the shelter (far west end) where cans are collected. CAHS receives 100% of the proceeds from this program.

Cellular Phones

All cell phones should be donated free of chargers, head sets and additional accessories. There is a collection box located to the right as you enter the business office door, in the alcove by the stairwell. 

The Capital Area Humane Society’s Second Chance program will receive $1.00 for each cell phone donated through this charitable recycling program. To learn more about the program visit    wwww.smartrecycle.com.

Printer Cartridges

All used/empty printer cartridges are eligible including Hewlett Packard, Canon, IBM/Lexmark, Pitney Bowes, Panasonic, Sharp, Xerox and Dell. Both Laser and Inkjet cartridges qualify. There is a collection box located in the lobby area where all printer cartridges are collected. Our public hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 2:00 -7:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 -5:00 pm.

The Capital Area Humane Society’s Second Chance program will receive a donation for each printer cartridge collected (donation varies depending on type of cartridge) through the Smart Recycle program. To learn more about the program visit www.smartrecycle.com.
