In Search of Special People

The Capital Area Humane Society is proud to offer a Special Adoptables program to find new, loving homes for animals with special needs. Animals in the Special Adoptables program need some extra tender loving care – from an acute medical condition to the need for some additional training or understanding to be comfortable again in a home environment. The animals bring out our best qualities like compassion, patience and humility.

Animals in the Special Adoptables program are not on the adoption floor and most are currently being cared for as a part of the Humane Society’s foster care network. You can view Special Adoptable animals in our adoptable animal listings.

If you are interested in giving one of these animals a new home, please email us at specialadoptables@cahs-pets.org. We will need to talk with you in some detail about the animal you would like to adopt and tell you more about their special needs. The foster family will work with you to make arrangements for you to visit the shelter to meet one of these special animals.
