  Name: CLARA

CAHS #: R07-167422

  Sex: Spayed Female

Age: Adult

  Breed: Mini Lop

Clara was returned because her adopter didn't realize how much work rabbits were and her kids weren't helping care for Clara. Parents, please don't adopt a rabbit for your kids--our top reasons for surrender have to do with children (they lose interest, no longer care for the rabbit, go to college, etc.). Rabbits can make wonderful family pets, but only if the adults are willing to love and care for them regardless of the kids. Clara gets along with her foster family's two small dogs and she has great litterbox habits. Her foster mom says that she definitely does not like to be picked up or held and that she's a bit "fussy," so she would probably do best in a home without small children. Lops as a breed are prone to ear infections (just like down-eared dogs), and Clara is getting ear drops to clear up a mild infection and to keep her ears in shape. Ear drops are easy to administer, and Clara's foster mom says she takes them very well.

  Name: LILLY & ORVILLE

CAHS #: R07-163420 R07-163417

  Sex: Spayed Female,Neutered Male

Age: 8 months

  Breed: Part Californian

Meet brother and sister duo, Orville (white and black) and Lilly (brown). They're friendly and inquisitive, and they enjoy hanging out together or climbing up and down the wooden rabbit house in their pen. Busy Bunny willow baskets and balls are their favorite toys. These young adventurers are great eaters of hay, and banana seems to be their favorite treat (just a sliver, and only occasionally, because it's so fattening!). Because they're so attached to each other, they must be adopted together. A "bonded pair" like Orville and Lilly can be the perfect adoption choice for somebody who loves rabbits and has plenty of space in their home (they'll need a "home base" at least as big as the exercise pen they're currently housed in). It's wonderful to watch bunny friends play and cuddle together, and they'll be able to entertain each other while you're gone. Though they are not currently on the adoption floor, they are available for adoption, and you can arrange to meet them by emailing rabbits@cahs-pets.org.

  Name: HENRIETTA

CAHS #: R07-173879

  Sex: Spayed Female

Age: 5 years

  Breed: Californian

Before Henrietta was brought to the shelter, she had lived in a cage so small she couldn't even turn around in it. It was touching to see how deliriously happy she was to move to living quarters she could walk and stretch out it. Not surprisingly, living in cramped quarters has made Henrietta a bit chubby--nothing that a good diet and exercise routine won't fix, though! In fact, she's already started on her fitness routine; a volunteer buddy of hers sees that she gets out of her cage for regular romps. "Henrietta is one of the sweetest, most gentle rabbits we have at the shelter," her volunteer pal enthuses. Though at 9.5 pounds she's a big girl, she's remarkably easy to pick up. Not that she likes being picked up--like most rabbits, she prefers that people sit down next to her and pat her. Even before she was spayed, she had excellent litterbox habits. Henrietta will need spacious living quarters (an exercise pen or a large dog crate), with plenty of time out of her cage/pen to play in a bunny-proofed room. She'll need a good diet of limited plain timothy pellets, fresh greens, and timothy hay. Above all, she'll need lots of love. And she has lots of love to give. Henrietta spent some time in foster care, where her personality really blossomed. Her foster mom calls her "spunky" and "inquisitive." She got on great with the big, gentle family dog--"she walked all over him on the couch!"--and "she loved to stretch out on the living room floor or even on the couch while the people were relaxing and watching tv!" Come meet her in the lobby of CAHS. For more information about her, or about having a house rabbit generally, email rabbits@cahs-pets.org.

CAHS #: R07-173950

  Sex: Neutered Male

Age: Adult

  Breed: Mini lop

Ziggy's owner moved out of her boyfriend's place and left him behind. This boy is very sweet. His coat is a lovely pattern of shades of brown and he weighs 6.5 pounds. Ziggy has returned from foster care. His foster mom says that he has a great personality and loves to play, cuddle, and to be petted. Ziggy's droopy ears make him prone to ear infections and he is getting ear drops twice weekly to keep his ears healthy. The drops are not expensive, and his foster mom says that he's very easy to medicate. Meet this sweetie in room H.

Sex: Neutered Male & Spayed Female

Age: 5 months

  Breed: California Mix

These five-month-old California mixes are so funny! Neddie likes to zip around the room, going so fast across the linoleum that he slides when he tries to turn left or right. Then, right in the midst of running, he'll give a little joyful leap into the air! Neddie and Lollie are very comfortable around people (including kids) and animals. Lollie is more relaxed than Neddie, preferring to lounge and watch her brother play about. Both like to cuddle and be petted. They are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Meet them in the Lobby.

  Name: RAINBOW

CAHS #: R08-175329

  Sex: Spayed Female

Age: Adult

  Breed: Harlequin

Rainbow is a very sweet harlequin who's had it rough. Humane Officers rescued her from a bad situation. Then, when she was spayed, she was found to have uterine cancer. Rainbow's uterus was completely removed and subsequent chest x-rays show no signs that the cancer has spread. Chances are good, then, that she will be able to live a long and healthy life, but it is especially important that her new adopter take her for regular physicals--twice yearly, to be on the safe side, for at least the next couple of years. Gentle and patient throughout her ordeal, this girl has showed an amazing resilience and capacity for love. What she needs is somebody who will love her back and give her a chance at a wonderful life. Though she's not currently on the adoption floor, she is available for adoption; to learn more about her and/or to arrange to meet her, email rabbits@cahs-pets.org.

Age: adult

  Breed: Mini Lop

Snuggles is not currently on the adoption floor, but she is available for adoption and you can learn more about her or arrange to meet her by emailing rabbits@cahs-pets.org. Somebody dumped this wonderful sweetheart outside the road leading to the shelter. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan saw the dump and rescued her before she could be attacked by a raccoon or hawk. Snuggles immediately won the heart of shelter staff, who gave her a name that fits her personality. She really does love to be held and cuddled, and she would make a wonderful addition to any family!

Age: 1 year

  Breed: Mini Lop

Chloe isn't yet on the adoption floor, but she is available for adoption, and you can arrange to meet her by emailing rabbits@cahs-pets.org. This little girl has had some bad luck. Her first owners surrendered her when they moved into an apartment that doesn't allow pets. She was adopted but returned when the adopter's boyfriend developed allergies. She hopes that she'll be lucky enough to find somebody who will consider her a permanent member of their family. Chloe is friendly and very sweet. She's got great litterbox habits, and she adores banana (don't let her sweet-talk you into giving her more than a taste at a time, though, or she'll end up being a very chubby mini lop!).
