Pearl Pure Heart is a beautiful Tortoise Shell kitty who was found as a stray and brought to CAHS by a Good Samaritan. She was very shy and uncomfortable in the shelter surroundings, so she entered our foster program in February. Her foster mom worked to gain her trust and make her more comfortable with her human friends. Pearl is extremely sweet and when picked up, she loves to be petted! She purrs and seems to enjoy the affection, but seems to feel more comfortable when she can find a quiet, cozy place to nap, away from the hustle and bustle. Because Pearl is so shy, her new family will want to take care in introducing her to her new surroundings. She may initially try to find a hiding place to feel safe. Pearl will enjoy having a spot of her own where she can feel comfortable. Like many people, Pearl just seems to prefer to keep to herself and as a result will do best in a quiet environment without too much activity. It took Pearl several weeks to feel comfortable with her foster mom, but she made a lot of progress. It takes a lot of quiet time and patience to coax Pearl out of her hiding spot, but once you get her in your lap, she loves to be brushed! Pearl's new favorite spot in the house was a window overlooking a birdfeeder. Pearl has endured a great deal of instability and for a shy girl that is difficult. Cory was rescued from a neglectful home by our humane officers, and he is looking for a family to provide him with the loving care he so deserves. Cory is a sweet, gentle, loving boy who loves to be caressed! He has been friendly to everyone he’s met at the shelter, including people, other cats, and dogs of all shapes and sizes! He is wonderful about using his litter box! Cory enjoys living in our Animal Law Enforcement Department and the adjoining conference room, where he has the opportunity to visit with many people on a daily basis, as well as with the various other animals that stop in to hang out with him. He also has a kitty condo in which he hangs out if his canine or feline visitors aren’t animal friendly or if there is an especially crowded meeting in progress (though he is a regular participant in conference room meetings and events, where his quiet companionship and cuddly presence is always much appreciated!). Because he is used to a great deal of companionship, Cory would do best in a household in which someone is home most of the time. This stunning boy is both neutered and FRONT DECLAWED. Cory is a member of the Special Adoptables Program because he is diabetic. He requires insulin shots two times a day along with controlled amounts of special food. Kayla was a stray found in an apartment complex at Tuttle Crossing. She's a beautiful, but shy calico that needs a new owner to put a smile back in her heart. This is one gorgeous kitty! Skidmark is a two-year-old neutered boy who was found when he fell out of the wheel well of a car! As a result, Skidmark's jaw is very slightly askew, but not enough to keep this big boy from eating! Skidmark is a hefty thirteen-and-a-half pounds of kitty! His fur is very soft and will need to be brushed regularly to avoid matting. Skidmark is FRONT DECLAWED, so no worries about your furniture or drapes. Skidmark was a little nervous upon arrival, but as you see, some TLC goes a long way and he soon had his eyes closed as he purred and reveled in the attention he was receiving! Where's Boo Boo? You could walk right past Boo Boo and never know she was there because she's usually hiding under her blanket! And why not? When she was found in an apartment complex with her kittens, the neighbors were threatening to kill her! Luckily, a Good Samaritan saved the little family and Boo Boo and babies went to foster care. The babies are all gone now to new homes and it's Boo Boo's turn to find the loving home she so deserves. A hidden Boo Boo is not what you will see after you take her home and love her. Hiding deep under her blanket, Boo Boo did not want to come out to have her picture taken. Rather than grab at her, the photographer spent time petting her and slowly removing the blanket before picking her up. Carrying Boo Boo over to where she would have her picture taken, this beautiful kitty was so frightened she trembled but never at any time did she growl or show any aggression. After the photographer spent time petting and talking to her, Boo Boo quit trembling and did not run back under her blanket when placed back in her cage. Instead, she came to the front of her cage to ask for more attention. It took only a few minutes of tenderness to get this good girl out from hiding because she wants to love and be loved. When you take her home, don't be surprised if she is frightened at first, but a very little investment of time and love will reward you with years and years of loving companionship with this gentle girl. Because of her fears, Boo Boo should probably be a single pet in a home with adults only or with adults and children over twelve. Sweet Miss Kitty is a six-year-old muted calico with beautiful shades of gray and orange running through her fur. She was adopted as a tiny kitten in 2002, but returned recently when her family's new baby developed allergies to her. She is a big girl at slightly over twelve pounds, which is just the right size to cuddle up in your lap! She's a wonderful girl who comes right up to you when her cage door is opened. A few sniffs, a few pets, and she's ready to be gently lifted from her cage and petted, her motor running at the pleasure of having attention! Chloe's foster parents state: Chloe is a great big beautiful bundle of fur and fun! She is very playful with balls, fabric mice, and following the red light pen beam around. She is affectionate but prefers to be in the room with you versus on your lap so I would not call her cuddly although she likes to be petted and scratched around the ears. She is just a really nice cat, not too demanding of attention but likes it when she gets it. We used a large litter pan due to her size and she is okay with being brushed. You would be lucky to have Chloe in your home and she would definitely reward you with her wonderful personality, fun-loving qualities and her beautiful looks! Chloe was in our home for almost 3 weeks. We also have 2 adult cats (male and female) that we allowed to run around with Chloe - they all seemed to get along okay. Sounds like Isabelle has not had an easy life. Her owners were taken to jail. And an old injury caused a deep corneal ulcer attached to her iris. Her quality of life should not be affected in anyway. Isabelle's foster mom states that she is a sprightly and funny little girl that loves to play with kitty toys. She can make a big game out of chasing a piece of carpet thread, jumping and twisting in the air before pouncing on it. She's very sociable and likes following me around just to be in the same room. She has a scar from the corneal ulcer that was probably very painful at one time. It doesn't bother her now, so I hope it doesn't bother you. Dear Gus is such a gentle boy that he was quite frightened by his new surroundings when he first arrived here. When Gus was petted, though, he started purring and nuzzling to ask for more. This good boy did not bite or scratch from fear when he was picked up, but rather trusted that no human would harm him, although he was still frightened by meowing kitties and barking dogs. What a wonderfully gentle boy! Gus was found by a Good Samaritan moving into a new home. He's a lilac-point Siamese with gorgeous blue eyes.
